Description: FIRST EDITION, frontispieces and 16 tissue-guarded plates across the two volumes, including one colourprinted, a 4-page facsimile and a folding-plate, occasional outbreaks of foxing, pp. xviii, 564; ix, 531, 8vo, original maroon cloth, backstrips and upper boards lettered in gilt, the upper boards with Churchill's arms stamped in gilt, blind-stamped rules running around head and tail of both boards (gilt on the backstrip), first volume with slight knock at head of upper joint and a knock to top edge towards corner, small dark patch at foot of backstrip of first volume and a couple of very light marks to upper board, edges spotted, repaired short closed tear at head of flyleaf and initial blank of second volume, very good
